NCAA Women's Softball

Last year, Iowa's softball team finished with a 42-20 record and finished ranked 30th in RPI; 29th in the ESPN/USA Softball rankings; and tied for 33rd in the USA Today/NFCA Division I rankings. The women's team had a great season last year, and things are looking up for Iowa softball. The University of Iowa's softball team took to the field with a double-header facing Drake and Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and winning both games.

Looking at the financial numbers from the 2005-2006 academic year, we see in the table below, that Iowa had a loss per student of about $27,700 and Iowa State about $20,000 per student. Both schools were below average with their respective conferences, and other than the ACC, both schools have lower per student losses than the other major NCAA Division I softball conferences.
