Ten Florida State Programs Put on Probation

Ten Florida State athletic programs are now on probation due to an academic scandal involving over 60 student athletes at Florida State. While ESPN and much of the media is covering how this impact the overall men's football head coaching wins race between Bowden and Paterno, I am more concerned that academic fraud was so prevalent on Florida State's campus.

The other programs other than men's football are baseball, men's track and field, women's track and field, men's swimming, women's swimming, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and men's golf.

Update: In this SI article, we get more information and find that the academic fraud in question was an on-line Music History course during Fall 2006, Spring and Summer of 2007. While I am not familar with the details, it does seem excessive that Florida State not only looses scholarships but also has to vacate the wins in those sports, and that the opponents cannot claim a victory.
