NFL and Antitrust

In an interesting round-table discussion, NERA's Antitrust Insights looks at the upcoming Supreme Court case involving the NFL (.pdf) and how sports leagues are organized. The NFL makes the argument that it is a single entity and thus has the right to conduct its business as such. This is true with respect to game scheduling and rules, but is questioned in areas such as merchandising. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: (1/14/10) The US Supreme Court heard arguments for the antitrust case cited above.
