NFL Players & Money Management

The USAToday has a great article on the importance of financial management for high paid athletes. As the article indicates, many high paid players end up in bankruptcy due to poor financial decisions and financial ignorance.

One way to overcome this is for athletes to be better educated in areas of finance. This would be a great thing for the players union and provide information to high paid athletes on financial matters, which they currently do.

I think I have a solution. What if the NFL required several years of advanced education from some kind of institute of higher learning as a requirement to be considered eligible for employment? 3 years minimum, 4 years recommended? That should fix the problem, right?
