Salary Arbitration

An important topic that I do not cover in my sports economics course is salary arbitration. It is an interesting topic in MLB, since MLB uses final offer arbitration, which means that the arbitrator has to choose one of the offers (either the player or the team) for the players salary. Here is an article that gives some details of players who filed for baseball salary arbitration.

I teach arbitration in my sports econ course as part of the labor relations part. My students seem to find it interesting.
