McDonald's and Starbucks

Here's a nice piece on the impact that McDonald's and Starbucks are having on each other. (h/t Margy). Notice that the effect is driven significantly based on how consumers are responding to purchasing products (such as latte's at McDonald's) as opposed to Starbucks. Given the rather concentrated consumer perceptions of each brand, changing consumers perceptions is no small task. Enjoy.
