Economics of a College Education

The New York Times has an interesting article on the long-term returns to college education. Specifically the author looks at the natural experiment that has occurred over the last few decades where women have significantly increased the amount of education and men have remained relatively the same. So, what has happened in the labor market? Women's salaries have increased over the time period (adjusted for inflation), while men's salaries are about the same (adjusted for inflation). While there are still differences in the salaries of the two groups, this gender pay gap is closing.
