New York City Taxi Monopoly

The city of New York in the state of New York has a monopoly on the issuing of taxicab medallions for taxis to legally operate in New York City. Recently the USA Today reported that one taxicab medallion went for $766,000, which represents part of the monopoly profits a taxicab can earn over the life of a medallion.
