Subsidies and Spanish Pigs

The Wall Street Journal reports that Spanish pig farmers are upset that the Spanish government is eliminating energy subsidies.  Here's what is happening:  Spain removes energy subsidies which resulted in 28 of the 29 energy firms, that use pig waste as an energy input, to go out of business.  European regulations restrict the amount of pig waste that can be disposed of on the ground. Since all but one energy firm has exited the  pig farmers either do not have access or cannot afford to transport the pig waste.
